Hello Reader, Would you like a workout for your ears? If AI Is A Bubble, What Happens When it Pops? You might enjoy this podcast episode that I listened to this week. Why I think you might like it? Everyone seems to be talking about AI or using it these days. But few people are talking about how it's all being paid for. (Or not!?) This podcast from CBC's Frontburner, will likely surprise you. Bonus: if you'd like to practice listening to financial info, like huge numbers for example, this episode will scratch that itch too. Not bad! This is great listening practice for the CELPIP because: It's Canadian English content, which is what the exam focuses on. And hint, hint, you should be listening to A WHOLE FREAKING LOT to help you get ready for your exam day. It's packed with lots of details - that you need to practice listening for. It's a current event - like I said, AI is a hot topic everywhere, which makes this a great topic for you to work with. How to powerup your practice: Don't just listen to this episode, try taking notes at the same time. Note taking while you are listening is serious next level practice that you really need to be good at in order to succeed in this section on the CELPIP. Here's what to do:See if you can take notes about the 5W's of this story - the Who, What, When, Where and Why of what they are talking about. Especially focus in on details like numbers - costs and what those high numbers are attached to that you'll hear. Yes, it's 22 minutes long. (Gasp!) But don't let that scare you away. If 22 minutes seems too much, break it down into 5 minute blocks and take a break in between. But I challenge you to listen to it. Even more: I challenge you to take detailed notes as you go along. Note taking is a vital skill you HAVE to master if you want to score well on the listening section of the CELPIP. Ignore note taking practice at your peril! Need some note taking help? Maybe these podcast episodes will help: How to take notes like a pro to succeed on the CELPIP listening exam 3 Tips for better CELPIP notes Goal: see if you can retell the story to someone only using your notes. (Or each 5 minute segment you listen to!) Good luck. And if you listen to it, hit reply and let me know what you think about it! I would love to hear from you. Well, that's it for today! Thank you for reading, and happy listening! Aaron PS. Do you have a favourite podcast that has been helping you practice your listening skills? Hi Reader, Before we get to AI, I want to tell you that it's been a long time since I have read a book for fun. My wife gave me "Out Of The Silent Planet" by C.S. Lewis for Christmas this year, and I've finally settled in to reading it. I love C.S. Lewis' writing, but I have to admit, I found the book hard to get into at first.
