Hello Reader, We had back to back - two nights in a row - major Christmas events in the two locations where I work in my day job. We served nearly 200 meals, and did all the dishes - God bless high speed industrial dishwashers! But each and every dish had to be carried and set, picked up, cleaned and put away. It's been a crazy week. A crazy past two days. I still work on Sunday for part of the day, leading special Advent services for residents of one of the facilities where I work, but I'm officially SO TIRED! And SO GLAD the weekend is here. How about you? And I wanted to take a quick moment to let you know that I will be slowing the frequency of these emails to just Tuesdays - for at least the next month. The reason: I've been talking about it here and on my podcast a little - but I am dealing with burnout - or at least the warning signals of it. I can kind of feel it nibbling away at me - so I'm taking action by stopping, slowing, or pausing things in my life to help me get a little more time to rest and build energy up again. My next podcast will go into that a little more in detail. (Comes out this Tuesday!) An encouragement for youIf burnout or fatigue is something you're dealing with right now, my question and encouragement for you is this: Do you have things in your life you can stop, slow down, or pause that will help you rest and recover instead of constantly pushing and grinding? I hope I can encourage you to look for them - maybe even this weekend - and do something about it. Let me know what you come up with, I would love to hear from you and cheer you on! (Just reply!) Have a restful weekend. I'll write again on Tuesday. Aaron |
Weekly emails to help you say goodbye to fear and speak English fearlessly. Learn effective and practical tips to help you prepare for and conquer the CELPIP Exam. I also host The CELPIP Success Podcast.
Hello Reader, Next week's podcast will feature the most common mistakes I've noticed people making this year as they've practiced for the CELPIP so you hopefully won't make them. But today I wanted to share one of the best CORRECT or right things to do that I've noticed when it comes to vocabulary building. Are you ready? When you hear or learn a new word in English, immediately use it. (After, of course, you're sure what that new word means!) The best and fastest way to learn your new word,...
Hello Reader, I am so sore! This past weekend I worked on building a dresser we picked up at IKEA for my kids. I must say that IKEA instruction manuals SUCK. (Sorry if you love IKEA instruction manuals..maybe my mind just doesn't understand them well.) I had to backtrack on my build progress several times because I had not correctly understood the instructions. Backtracking on an IKEA build means unscrewing and pulling apart things you had just screwed and put together. It sucks time and...
Hello Reader, Last Sunday afternoon I went on an hour long road trip to visit my Dad because I didn't get a chance to see him at Christmas. We had a nice time visiting and eating together. He showed me a painting he was working on restoring. Pretty cool! And, as many of you know, I'm an avid podcast listener, so I had my podcast app LOADED with shows to keep my ears and brain busy on the road. I've been looking for new shows to like so many of the episodes I downloaded were brand new. Never...
