Stop trying to fit practice into your busy life

Hi Reader,

I've been an English teacher for 17 years.

A certified CELPIP trainer for 2+ years, and I see a lot of people struggling with: trying to find time to practice. Do this instead.

Want to go a little deeper? Check out my latest YouTube video on How to find time to practice (My latest YouTube video!)

My experiment with YouTube continues!

What I'm learning?

The more I do it, the less scary it gets. (It's still intimidating to talk to the camera, if I'm being totally honest.) And I'm still learning how to look at the lens and not myself on the screen. AND I'm still learning how speak without a script. (Slowly getting better there....I think.)

Why this applies to you?

Repetition is your friend. The more you practice a skill, like say skimming or scanning on the reading exam, the easier it gets if you keep at it.

Same thing with speaking skills. If you want your speaking skills to get better, you need to speak more often with native English speakers. (There IS NO OTHER WAY.)

The challenge is exactly what I'm working to overcome: fear.

I hope you'll check out the video and leave me a comment with what you find to be the most challenging with your prep. I'd love to hear from you!

Person with hands over face at laptop

Hi Reader, Freezing in mid sentence because you forget how to say what you want to say in English is one of THE WORST feelings, isn't it? I know exactly what that feels like. It happens to me. In English. (Promise!) It's especially happens to me with my Spanish - that's my second language. It SUCKS! But here's the thing: it. happens. to. everyone. Did you read that? Forgetting how or what to say next happens in your first and second language - the embarrassing experience is not reserved JUST...
