Hi Reader, I've been doing a lot of thinking around CELPIP practice and busy schedules. Here are a few resources I worked on this week that might help if your schedule keeps working against you and your prep. A few articles and podcasts you might enjoy: From my blog: Surprising, Unexpected but Powerful Advice for Effective CELPIP Practice. and from my podcast, just in case you missed it: Coffee, Routines, and CELPIP: Transforming daily life into study time. **** From around the web: I found these LinkedIn posts to be valuable and thought provoking...maybe you will too! AI is where?! AI seems to be popping up all over the place. But this week I read a story by RCIC (Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant) Lilia I, profiling how AI is being used in immigration processes. Maybe even yours. I encourage you to take a moment to check her post out: Canada said NO to Kémy Adé First takeaway: Don't take no for an answer. (But sadly, many do.) Second takeaway: The comment section of this post has some great insights around the use of AI. (This might even be great reading task 4 practice for you: can you pick out some opinions and who agrees or disagrees with using AI and why?). Final take: AI isn't going away. It comes up with convincing answers sometimes, but we the real (not artificial) intelligence must not just assume it's right simply because 'a computer came up with the answer.' Human insight, wisdom, discernment and oversight is still absolutely vital as Lilia's post underscores. **** Need an employment letter for IRCC? Make sure it has the right information, not just the standard HR employment letter. From Ana Canseco RCIC. **** Did you get an invitation to apply for PR? According to RCIC Egidija Benotiene, congratulations are in order, but don't forget: the real application work is about to begin. And it could make or break everything for you. Note: I only link out to RCICs that I trust, and don't receive a dime for it. (I'm not paid by them for doing it. I do it because I think they might be able to help you with your immigration process.) **** 🎧 Listening Practice? From one of my favourite podcasts: Is AI making you dumb? (Front Burner with Jayme Poisson.) If you're looking for some listening practice and want to learn a little more about how to and how NOT TO use AI, give it a listen. Did anything I shared here get you thinking? Feeling upset? Or like you learned something? Hit reply and let me know about it. I would love to hear from you! Have a great weekend, Aaron |
