Hello Reader, It's Saturday. I hope you have time to rest, relax, and enjoy some downtime. But if you need to practice for your CELPIP exam still, here's one simple (and fun) idea for you. I've used it with many of my students over the years, and it's a favourite! Ready? Take your cellphone and go for a walk. Look for something busy going on - like a busy city crosswalk, or lunch time in your local shopping mall's food court. Take a picture of what you see. When you get home, open your photo and practice describing the scene. Welcome to a great speaking task 3 practice session! Need some tips to help you? Here's a master class blog post I made for you. That's it. Your 1 idea. Will you try it? Bonus: reply and share your photo with me! I would love to see what saw on your walk! Have a great day, Aaron PS. Want to get feedback on your speaking skills? Try out my 30 day CELPIP speaking skills bootcamp. In just 30 days you'll practice every single speaking task type you'll face on the CELPIP AND get one-on-one friendly feedback on all of your responses. I know you are a real live person, and not a number. Pretty much everywhere else in your journey to settle in Canada, I bet you...
Hello Reader, Does it ever feel like those 30 seconds of brainstorming time on the speaking section of the CELPIP are never enough to figure out what you'll say? And then even worse, the REAL TROUBLE begins: trying to fill those 60 and 90 second response times for each of your answers! How do you deal with that blasted timer? This week I'm responding to a question I read over on Reddit because I know it's a common challenge that maybe you are facing today, too! So if you've ever found...
Hello Reader, I've had more conversations this week about AI than I think I have ever had. At work, we're trying to figure out how to use it to help reduce time on mundane (boring) tasks like sorting survey responses and categorizing them. What would have taken me hours to do manually now just takes a few minutes - but it's not perfect. I still need to wrestle Claude to make it do what I really want it to do. I I was in 3 meetings over the past week were we were discussing how to use AI, when...
