Did you know there's a sweet spot for every CELPIP speaking task?

Hello Reader,

Many test takers that I've worked with make this mistake: not leaving enough time for a conclusion in their speaking task responses.

It's a simple mistake, but it can negatively impact your score.

But I've got great news! This is an easy mistake to avoid, and all you need to do is remember the sweet spot!

There's a sweet spot?

Yep! It's the last 10 seconds of your speaking response.

Don't use the last 10 seconds to add another point, or dig a little deeper with the idea you're already talking about.

Nope.

Instead, use this time to let your listener (the test rater) know you've come to the end of your talk.

"And those are the three reasons why I think you need to fly instead of drive."

"What a beautiful day to be at the beach!"

"That's why I will never forget my first day at my job!"

Those are all great ways to conclude your response. Short and sweet, but tells the test rater know you're finished.

Did You Notice? None of them takes longer than a few seconds to say, and they fit perfectly into the sweet spot of the last ten seconds of your response time.

This week's podcast can help you even more! I cover a few more ideas to help you give stronger speaking task responses (and avoid common mistakes!)

I hope these ideas will help you as you get ready for your speaking task responses.

Hi Reader, Happy Saturday to you! I watched this short from one of my favourite comedians the other day, and I wanted to share it with you to (hopefully) enjoy. (It's just 30 sec long.) What I hope you'll notice: how he uses his tone of voice! Notice what he does with it to emphasize ideas. Is it always the same?
