Progress check: how often did you fail this week?

Hello Reader,

I've mentioned this before, and I'll do it again and again simply because I think we frequently get it wrong:

Mistakes with your English = progress markers.

Zero mistakes almost always = not enough risk taking.

To make progress with your English and your CELPIP scores, you REALLY need to use your English more often than you are, and in ways you haven't gotten used to yet.

Risks.

Take more of them with your English skills to see them grow. (And your CELPIP scores will follow. Guaranteed.)

Back to the subject line:

It's Thursday. Look back over your week so far. How many times did you fail with your attempts at using English?

If you can't think of any fails (mistakes), I wonder how you'd rate your progress with English and your CELPIP scores right now?

Flatlined?

Stuck?

Repeating low CELPIP sores after 5, 6, 8 attempts on the exam?

I bet you'll see they're related.

And there's a way to fix it: take more risks with your English.

That means: use it more and in ways you haven't tried to before.

And repeat often.

Persist at this, and you'll see both your English AND your CELPIP scores begin to get better.

What risk will you take with your English this week?

CELPIP Success: The newsletter Hello Reader, This week I was away for work, and needed to record the podcast episode using what I had on hand: my cellphone. (It was also a video for my YouTube channel.) I didn't have a stand with me to hold my phone, so instead I tried to balance it on the box of a board game I had with me. In case you were wondering, balancing your phone on a box doesn't work very well. My phone fell multiple times during my recording. Video went suddenly black. Loud...

CELPIP Success: The newsletter Hey Reader, I've been thinking a lot about something that I'm not particularly good at: saying what I really think - my opinion about real world issues. Not all the time, of course. But more often than I care to admit, I find that I'm thinking something about a news story, for example, but I don't express it. Happen to you? Here's what I mean: I listened to several podcast episodes this week on CBC's Frontburner (a personal favourite podcast of mine) that left...

Hello Reader, I think the typical way we are taught and try to learn grammar SUCKS. It's incredibly boring. It's usually 100% about memorizing lists of rules and verbs. And worse: this approach rarely works. It doesn't stick! Do you agree? There's a better way to learn grammar, and you don't need to waste hours and hours trying to memorize stuff you'll only forget when you need it most, like on the CELPIP exam or in the middle of a conversation, and this week's podcast will tell you all about...
